CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION

The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is a specialized unit that concentrates on criminal and drug investigations. Currently, the unit is led by the Criminal Commander (Lieutenant) and assisted by a Detective Sergeant, who supervises criminal investigators and deputies assigned to the Talbot County Drug Task Force.

Criminal investigators receive specialized training and must be well versed in the principles and application of criminal law; appellate court case law pertaining to interrogations and search and seizure; applicable laws governing arrest; and agency policy and procedure.

The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division also manages and monitors the whereabouts, conduct and compliance status of those registered offenders who establish permanent or temporary residences in Talbot County. The Maryland Sex Offender Registry provides important information about convicted sex offenders to local, state and federal agencies as well as the public.
