DARE OFFICERS

The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office maintains a deputy permanently assigned as the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Officer, and in addition has two other full-time deputies who are trained in DARE. 

Dfc. John Coleman is our full-time instructor training fifth graders at all elementary schools in Talbot County, with additional training for eighth graders at Easton Middle School.

Talbot County Schools participating in the DARE program are both public and private, including Chapel District Elementary School, Saint Michaels Elementary School, Tilghman Elementary School, Saints Peter and Paul Elementary School, The Country School, Chesapeake Christian School, White Marsh Elementary School, Easton Elementary School and Easton Middle School.

DFC. John Coleman

Dfc. John Coleman joined the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office in September 2017, after a distinguished 25-year career with the Easton Police Department. Dfc. Coleman is a natural instructor, well liked by students and staff, and was awarded the DARE Officer of the year in his first year as an instructor with this office.
